Explore Lemnos Island
Did you miss me? More than a month since I have posted something, but I was on vacation and finishing my studies, so be fair and forgive me. I really hope guys to have a bigger budget for my trips to see more exotic and non European destinations only. But, we do what we can and I am giving you one more greek destination, Lemnos Island ( the next one guys will a non greek trip, it is planned).
The funny thing is that when I said to people that I am going to Lemnos, no one knew the island. Yes, it is not Mykonos, Paros or Santorini.
Do you want nice and cheap food? yes you can find it there
Do you want nice landscapes and clean blue beaches ( they are not deep)? Yes, yes this is a good choice ( I must elaborate here).
Do you want a surf camp vacation? Yes, for my extreme mathafakaz, yes you can go there.
Do you want history? for fuck sake, yes again
Do you want to party all the time? ok here we have a problem, it is more family based vacation, if you do not want to go for kite surf or something similar.
Enjoy the photos that others took because I am bad at this, to see the island a bit and create your own judgement.

There is an airport there, so you can skip the ultra many hours by going there with a boat, more convenient guys and rent a car there, you will need it of course.
Did you know that Greece has a dessert? yes it is in Lemnos, with so many other places that you saw from the photos. it is budget friendly, so take your kids or friends and have some chilling nice holidays.

- Lemnos has a wine connected to ancient mythology: Lemnos is famous for its Muscat of Alexandria, a sweet aromatic grape variety used to produce local wines. The island has been associated with wine since antiquity, and its volcanic soil gives the vineyards a distinctive character.
- It was supposedly the home of Hephaestus:According to Greek mythology, Hephaestus, the god of fire and metalworking, was associated with Lemnos. Legend says that after Zeus threw him out of Mount Olympus, he landed on the island. This connection explains why Lemnos has such strong links to fire, volcanoes and metalworking in mythology.
- It may have an important connection to the Trojan War:Lemnos appears several times in ancient Greek literature, including Homer’s Iliad. The island was strategically located in the northern Aegean, making it an important stop for ships traveling between the Aegean and the Black Sea.
- The island has a very unusual ecosystem: Lemnos has large areas of relatively untouched wetlands. The Chortarolimni, Alyki and Asprolimni wetlands are important habitats for migratory birds, making the island surprisingly interesting for birdwatchers.
- Lemnos has a cheese with protected status:The island is famous for Kalathaki Limnou, a traditional white brined cheese made primarily from sheep’s milk. Its name literally refers to the traditional basket-shaped molds used to make it.
- Lemnos is famous for honey:The island has a long tradition of beekeeping, particularly because of its wild herbs and aromatic plants. Local honey is often associated with thyme, giving it a strong Mediterranean flavor.
- It has a special pasta called flomaria: Flomaria is a traditional Lemnian handmade pasta, often made with flour, eggs and milk. It’s one of those foods that tells you a lot about the island’s agricultural traditions.
- Jason and the Argonauts stopped here:According to mythology, when Jason and the Argonauts were searching for the Golden Fleece, they stopped at Lemnos. The island’s women welcomed them and the myth gets considerably more complicated from there! 😅
